Wide Border On A 2k4 D Dime

Well, I was at work again today, and a dime caught my eye. It doesn't seem all that special really, but I noticed the rim of the coin is at least twice, if not 3x as wide as it seems to be. It doesn't seem bery significant, but it really stood out, so I grabbed it.

As you can see, the dime on the left is normal, the one on the right is the odd-ish one.

Look at the edge. From the pic, it looks possible that you might have a partial collar broadstrike. If this is the case, the edge would be missing the reeds for part of the coin.

If the edge is intact, then I would guess that this coin was struck a little hard and the rim was squeezed upwards a little to give the rim the appearance of having more metal. I've seen alot of dimes like that while roll searching. I don't know the cause for sure, but it does catch your eye at first.

It is a very minor misaligned die error.

Yeah, all the edge is normal. It's just the face that looks funny. I doubted it was anything significant, but I was curious. :)
