Interesting - but some of these devices appear to be narrowed to me. If they are, MD. But others? Not sure!

Well yes and no. It is doubling but it is MD not a DDR. Also it would be called a "doubled" die not a "double" die, just a FYI.

Looks like Machine Doubling, very common and not worth more than the copper its "stamped" on.

Your first two images are the clearest indicator, especially the "U." See how the "doubling" carries around the corner as a "shelf" without showing a notch where one letter ended and the second began? This is the classic sign of Machine Doubling. Die doubling will show two distinct letters, nothing else.
