Hello everyone,

Found this one a few days ago. To me it looks like a double lamination (see third image). The orange section looks like pre-strike lamination and the red section looks like post-strike lamination. What do you guys think?

Cool coin, and I'm inclined to agree with your evaluation. Is that more action between the D and S or just damage?

Wow. Very cool find. Did you get it in change or a roll?

Not sure on this one... Almost looks like it could be corrosion that caused some of it. I've seen coins corroded, even lightly like this one, to the point where it made it look like a lamination error.

I disagree CHD. The jagged lines resemble a lamination, while corrosion would be rounded.

SsuperDdave: Hmm.. it might be another lamination peal. under a microscope it looks almost like one that then turns into a PMD scratch near the 'F' in "FIVE." I'll put up some pictures later.

SilverStackerKid: I found it in a CWR. I got a bunch of CWRs that has a lot of 60s, 70s and 80s coins in good condition, two had some v-nickels in them. One had pure 50s coins, one pure 40s (mostly 42 no mint mark, not THAT lucky) and a few 40s and 50s mixed in with the other rolls.

CoinHuntingDrew: Interesting. I'm not sure corrosion applies to this one since it appears part of it was done pre-strike but I do have another coin that I thought was a lamination that might just be corrosion as you say. I'll have to post that one sometime.
