Very late die stage, it means the die is about to die. It will soon be replaced, as it is worn, and doesn't leave a good impression on the coin. Eds is best (early die stage), followed by mid and late die stages.
The coin we are looking at in this post is not vlds, the affected area appears similar to a vlds coin.
