Seeing that the gold buffalo coin is out today, it got me thinking. Why are there 2 different gold bullion coin designs (St. Gaudens and the buffalo) but ONLY 1 silver bullion design?

BECAUSE when two gold coins love eachother very much, they bring a little silver coin into the world and start a family of bullion coins.

Not wanting to take anything away from what's already been said...

The US Mint introduced the .9999 pure gold Buffalo due to global demand for pure gold bullion coins. The AGE and Buffalo coins fill the needs of two different segments of the gold bullion market.

I guess there's insufficient demand for .9999 silver bullion as far as the Mint is concerned. Maybe?
