Susan,

I had someone purchase a coin from me on ebay and I got notification that they paid with an "ECheck" thru paypal. What exactly is that? Sounds like a regular check because I have to wait for the check to clear.

An e-check, for all intents and purposes, is the same as a regular check. If a buyer pays with Paypal but does not have the amount in their account to cover the purchase, Paypal then draws on the bank account attached to the Paypal account. It takes roughly 3-4 business days for the funds to clear to Paypal. Once the payment clears, you should get an email from Paypal letting you know that the funds are clear and you can ship.

Larry,

It might be wise to send your buyer a polite email and let them know that it has to clear first.

We had a buyer once that never realized that it went through as an eCheck and got a little upset that it took so long to ship.

The problem is that if you have $500 in your Paypal account and the payment is $500.01, the entire thing goes through as an eCheck. Waiting for a penny for 3-4 days is kind of silly, but that's the way it is.

Just thought I'd give you a heads up on it.
