I bought two Whitman books a little while back (#2486 and 2487) to hold a silver dollar set and have been filling the holes over the last few years. The problem that I have with Whitman books is they usually include some blank spots at the end of the folder and I feel like the set doesn't look as nice without them filled. I am looking for suggestions on the more popular varieties to include. The first book goes from 1935-1952 and has 5 blank spots, and the second book goes from 1953 to 1967 with 4 blank spots. I am thinking about putting in two obverse coins in each book so that would leave 3 and 2 spots left. These are the varieties the folders already account for:
1935 1936 1937 1938 1939 1945 1946 1947 P7 1947 P7 Dot (don't have) 1947 B7 1947 ML 1948 (don't have) 1949 1950 FWL 1950 Arnprior 2-1/2 Water Lines 1951 FWL 1951 Arnprior 2-1/2 Water Lines 1951 SWL 1952 FWL 1952 Three SWL 1952 Arnprior 1-1/2 Water Lines (don't have, can't seem to find one) 1952 NWL
1953 NSF 1953 SF 1954 1955 FWL 1955 Arnprior 1-1/2 Water Lines 1956 1957 1958 1959 1960 1961 1962 1963 1964 1965 SB B5 1965 SB P5 1965 MB P5 1965 LB B5 1965 LB P5 1966 SB (don't have) 1966 LB 1967 SB Reverse (don't have, can't find any info on this one) 1967 LB Reverse (or vice versa, I just compared to the 66' LB)
The other varieties I can think of are the 35 SWL, 46 SWL, 54 SWL, 56 SWL, 57 1WL, 64 No Dot. Wondering which ones are more commonly collected varieties. Any input is welcome, thanks!

for the one that goes to 1952 you can put in with the obverse side up a 1937-47 dollar and in the other hole a 1948-52 to show the transition caused by the independence of India which caused the legend change.

also I would get the 2012 Charlton. with that you can pick and choose your favourite varieties. one I would include is the 1955 fu-manchu dollar, its one of my favourites.

Thanks dollarman, that's a good idea with the two different Obverses. I do have a 2012 Charlton but I borrowed it to a friend, I will have to look up that 55' you mentioned when I get it back, it has definitely piqued my interest.

I would also suggest the Pinocchio variety but from what I know the only one known is in possession of a forum member.

Quote: Any input is welcome, thanks! It's outside of the years in your albums, but if you can't come up with something else maybe display all 4 effigies of QEII and fill the last two spots in #2487. Use the 2005 and/or 2015 Flag Anniversary SD. I know neither option is ideal but I'd prefer them to an empty hole myself.

Quote: I would also suggest the Pinocchio variety but from what I know the only one known is in possession of a forum member. Haha that's a good one. Another reason for me not really understanding how trend values are determined though, if there is only one known how can they set trends for VF-20 to MS-63. Quote: maybe display all 4 effigies of QEII That's a good idea too. There are 4 empty spots in #2487 so the 4 effigies would complete it. I didn't even think about using those later commemorative dollars but they are the same size so that would work. I guess another option would just continue the silver dollar set with the commemoratives from 1971-74.
