I have not been able to identify this coin, but while looking at it closely, I question whether it is authentic. It looks cast, and there is a weird blob on the obverse that doesn't look right.

19mm - 20mm, 3.1g

Clear signs of casting but for an issue thats hardly worth anything anyway. I guess it was a personal project instead of a counterfeiting effort.

Im guessing it will have a casting seam on the edge.

Its got basically every indication of casting, in that case. There is no seam here but the file marks are still evident from the caster removing it.

I thought so. But why? I still don't know what it is supposed to be, but as you say it is common, why would someone go through the effort? I believe it was collected in the early 20th century.

Its probably for jewellery. Or, perhaps Valerians coinage was rarer when this was made. Or, just maybe, the owner sold the real one and kept this as a facsimile.

Large casting pearl, filed edges, mushy and pitted details. I would also say a casting. No idea why any one would want to do it unless it was a test to see how well it would come out.

How did you come across it? That may shed some light on where it originally came from. If it's part of a lot from an estate sale or something I would lean toward personal project.

Great Grandfathers, with a handful of other roman coins. Most are authentic, but this one stood out.

I was prepared to post these separately for identification help, but I'm not sure about these being authentic either. First one is 20mm - 22mm and 5.7g
Second one is 17mm - 19mm and 5.0g

These two look OK to me, just worn.
