I-Found-A-1933-Double-Eagle

At the Smithsonian, that is. Their 'Stories on Money' exhibit is a fascinating $50,000,000+ exhibit including this coin, a gem proof 1828 Half eagle, a BU 1822 half eagle, BU 1795 and 1803 Eagles, a BU 1803 Dollar, each of the three classes of 1804 dollars, the two 1877 half unions, a 1913 nickel, an 1849 double eagle, and so many more AWESOME coins from 600 BC to present that many would kill to own.

I went there back in October of 2012, on a 8th grade field trip we spent several days there. They had a sheet for us to go around the museum and spot things and describe them etc.

I spent at least an hour in that mini room with those coins.

I always wondered if the clips that the coins are in are making direct contact with the coin. They better be the same composition as the coin itself.

The best coin they have is the $10 Beaver. IMO.

Got to see the exhibit last year. Seeing those coins was amazing. My favorite was the 1913 Liberty nickel. Just incredible to be in the presence of such a specimen.
