Is this really a variety, or is this ebay seller just trying to get more for this coin?

Has anyone heard of this variety before?

It is a variety called "without rays" found with the SWL
that was caused by polishing.
Referred to as Variety Rev. 11 by Charlton.

The seller is fellow member Pacificoin so you
can rest assured that it is a legitimate variety.

Nice example SilverDon.
I think the 1950 has more varieties then
any other of the silver dollars.

Great example silverson have you checked for any repunching in the date?
Yes, the 1950-1952(especially 1950) seemes to be a great date range for KG VI dollar varieties but what about 1947?, 1947 is a great date for varieties many of which I believe are yet to be discovered/recognized. I myself have an example with a nice re punched 7 that I can't find listed.
Feel free to call me Will.

You and I have the same repunched 4 and 7 (tripled), 1947, with reverse die crack dollar, dollarman, you helped me identify that variety when I bought my 1947.

Will have to check that 1950 for a repunch on the date. Thanks for that info.

Thanks for the endorsement Jimmy D. I also agree the 1950 along with the 1951 and 1952 George VI dollars are the most interesting of the entire dollar series. The 1950 has been a special study for me since the early 1980 s when I discovered a bunch of the so called CH007 logs on island variety in an original 100 dollar lot. The aforementioned missing Northern Lights exists with both short and regular water lines .

Awhile back someone mentioned on one of the threads that the 2012 Charlton Standard listed a whole lot of Silver Dollar varieties. I was able to get a reasonable priced used copy from Amazon -- it can from a library in Chicago -- and wowzer, what an eye opener to many, many varieties (including the one above). I just thought I'd mention this again......it really opens an interesting door well beyond the limited varieties that are most commonly known.
