My forum suggestion would be "coins and technology". While there is a forum for photography/microscopy, there presently isn't a good place to discussing ways of using technology to detect coin varieties, forgeries, cleaning, and other features. I'm planning to write some tutorials on using imaging software to detect coin varieties, but I don't find a good place to post these.

Of course this is Bobby's call Kurt, and I don't want to sound like I'm knocking your idea. But I think what you are listing would be just as valuable if not more valuable in the forums that they relate to. Using imaging software for detecting varieties and such would be a great tutorial to put into the variety section. Maybe even worthy of a "sticky", although Dad hates those. Same thing with forgeries and cleaning detection. I think the main coin forum would be a great place for this. Just my opinion of course, and in no way am I being sarcastic or demeaning to your idea. Of course they would all fit in the photgraphy forum, but that doesn't get as much exposure since not everyone visits or cares about cameras...

Makes sense to me! I'd rather post it in a forum that gets more traffic...I just didn't want to be OT.

On the plus side a forum dedicated to the subject would be less likely to revolve the information to the 297th page in a week ,,exaggerated of course for impact !

and to show that I have learned my numbers up to at least 297

It is a great subject, however there is no where near enough activity on it to warrant it's own forum....yet. I agree with Tighe that they would be better off in the corresponding existing forum for now.

It is a great suggestion though which I'm sure can be revisited as technology develops.

Just because you know how to write the number 297 doesn't mean you can count that high.

Which is the reason for Sticky's. But alas, I don't think these are near and dear to Dad's heart.

Kurt, maybe if it was as well written as your macro flower photographs are beautiful, Dad will let it be "stuck".

Stickies do EXACTLY what Rick doesn't like, which is why I don't like them. They push other current topics off the first page that much faster.
