I wish to give the heads up to those of you interested in ancient or Biblical coins...

I see ModernCoinMart (MCM) is running a great deal on certified and encapsulated 135-37 BC Widows Mite Bronze Pruta Ancient Coins. Each coin comes in a special display box with a free copy of the coffee table book Money of the Bible by noted Numismatic author Kenneth Bresset. The coins seem to be selling fast, especially the 135-37 BC Widows Mite Bronze Pruta Ancient Coin NGC CH XF.

Thanks for the info, though I hate to see an ancient coin slabbed. In this case we know its genuine.

You're welcome. I agree, at least we know its genuine. In addition, it helps to keep the coin preserved for generations to come. We are after all not the owners of coins, but mere curators.

I'm not associated with any vcoins seller, or anyone else. but these coins can be had in higher grade for a much better price at vcoins...and are going to be genuine coins.

True. I've discovered after posting the above that the correct translation out of the Koine Greek reads: "And coming, one poor widow cast in two lepta, which is a quadrans."

VCoins is a good source of these coins, although there don't seem to be any high grade ones currently available.

Someone has also mentioned David Hendon at ebay as a good source for these coins.

In addition, in fairness to MCM, the prices they charge for these coins include 'free' shipping, a display case and a 'free' copy of the coffee table book Money of the Bible by noted Numismatic author Kenneth Bresset.
