Just came across this one and I need the experts eyes here. At first you think PMD like bb's or a jewelers drill. But look closer and it has NO displaced metal from hits or a punch awl and NO striations from a drill, dremel or other tool. Plus look how the devices are pressedd down into it. Again, there is no displacement or striations at all... To me, my gut is saying this happened during the strike. What do you guys think? I took pics with a 10x & 20x loupe. Thanks!

In my opinion, it looks like PMD.

The clue is that the devices are in the pits. This means the coin was struck first, then damaged. Had it been something on the die, there would be no evidence of devices in the pits.

Looks like someone took a Red Ryder BB gun and used the coin as target practice.

Physically impossible considering devices are displaced by the holes. They can't be displaced until they're there, and they're not there until they're struck fully. Given that none of them are as much as half a hemisphere deep, I'm not all that worried by not seeing displaced metal. Too little to spread and 360 degrees in which to spread it.

This coin was used for BB Gun target practice!

Can you believe they did that!

I just bought a 1921 Morgan. It weighs in at 26.4g. Possible fake? Silver seems to check out but concerned with weight.

to the forum, Seagull.

Please post your coin in its own topic so it can get the proper attention.

At least it doesn't have a CC mintmark.

I wish it did have a cc mark searcher. Then it would be worth a couple grand instead of $25

We'd all be if that were a Carson City coin.
