I have this Cent but have no idea what variety it is or if it is genuine. It is fairly worn but shows some hair detail on the obverse. The reverse less so, with a couple of faint or missing letters. The planchet is smooth and mostly brown, although a little splotchy on the reverse. It has a plain edge and weighs 11 grams. What are your thoughts and comments?

It looks pretty real. There will be some that will come along and attribute it.

Looks genuine and in Very Good condition. Maybe VG10, and possibly an S-77 variety. You are fortunate to have that coin

I can confirm Ed's attribution of S-77 which has rarity rating of 3.
In this variety the leaves on the wreath seem to hug the legend very closely.
I agree with EAC VG10. It a nice coin, with very pretty smooth surfaces.

A nice S-77. The planchet is smooth and unblemished. The color is a nice even brown. A spot of Verdi-Care would make this coin look a lot better.
The missing letters on the reverse aren't wear. That's where the die started sinking and is indicative of a later die state. The reverse rim bump at one o'clock is distracting but not a big issue.
As far as grade I will say EAC 12 which corresponds to an F-15 market grade. The reason I'm grading the coin a bit high is the fact that the "Head of 95" coins were struck in lower relief than the 1794s or the later 1796s. The rims are too full for a VG in my opinion.
An exceptional coin.

I've just weighed my S-77 and it comes in at 10,79 g. It is quite a bit more worn than yours, so 11 g seems reasonable and in-line.
I also think celticsoul is correct regarding the grade - the coin is better than VG10. A grade of F12 is justified.

CelticSoul, I have someVerdi-Care, but I haven't had too much success with it, so I am reluctant to try it on this coin. Thanks to everyone for your input.

Beautiful coin. The smooth planchet is such a big plus as so many of this year are not this nice. Congratulations

That is a great coin.

Some day I will own at least one 179X regular issue.
