Welcome to the board, Heather. Your coin is overcleaned, but quite probably genuine. It is a (Parthian) drachm of Pacorus I. You may also see these listed as Vologases III...the re-attribution to Pacorus is a fairly recent development. Btw, yours is a really nice example.

Thanks for your reply Bob, it was mainly the "shininess" that gave me the doubts. I do like the coin though and so it is another baby to add to my growing collection

I may throw it in some mud though (joking)

Thanks for the comments guys, I've got a little project coming tomorrow of 10 uncleaned Roman coins. I got them at a bargain price of £3 for the lot. I'm actually excited to see what is under all that mud. Even if they turn out to be nothing much I'm going to have fun finding out!!
