X Ray Florescence testing will reveal what elements are in the surface layer, and will prove if the coin is genuine or not.
I do not think the expense of XRF testing is justified in this case. Certainly cheaper to be left not knowing via XRF, when I think SSK's opinion is correct, anyway.
Cast counterfits maybe contemporary that are a bit worse for wear. Looks like they melting in a way silver wouldn't do. Rims definitely have a cast look to them.
