I was just wondering if anyone can identify this banknote for me please ? I think it is Chinese but I can get no further so any help much appreciated. Thanks Brian.
Yes looks like China. It is surely 1 Yüan (= 1 dollar) cyclic date can be 21 Probably empire of China, but there are so many branches with each their own banknotes.... Sorry I did not find this banknote, but my eyes turned rectangular already (I will resume the search after a good night sleep)
It is a "one dollar" (one yuan) temporary deposit receipt issued in May, 1919 by the Binjiang (Pinkiang) Chamber of Commerce in Harbin which is located in China's northeast province of Heilongjiang.
Other specimens of this note may be seen here and here.
