OK I can just see someone trying to measure something by placing coins one at a time from one to the other. So how many coins long is your car?

"Dipping" is not considered cleaning...

This is an old idea that goes back to at least 1797 when the new pence and two pence cartwheels were to weight 1 and 2 oz and 10 of the 1 pence or 8 of the two pence laid side by side were to measure 1 foot.

I was only aware of the canadian large cent was a inch never realized about the half penny.
