Zonad from this site explained it the easiest way ... no lines drown or anything. If the gap between the3&2 is the same as between the 2 and the leaf, then it's a normal one. If the 2-leaf gap is much wider, then it's a "far", meaning further away from the leaf. This should have had a different name, because in other scenarios, the word "far" means the gap between the 3rd and 4th digits.
