International Organization of Wooden Money Collectors They don't seem to have an official website Darrell Luedtke is a member of our local club. He has what I would have to say is the worlds greatest collection of wooden money and medals and anything in wood that resembles a coin or medal or round historical artifact carved out of wood. He has taken many 1st place show exhibits at ANA shows, our local clubs show, and this years CSNS show with his exhibit of "A complete collection of wooden medals of the 1876 US Centennial". Most of them were over 6" in diameter and had survived over 140 year in the same state that they were originally issued in. Throw a 2 X 4 in your back yard and it is disintegrated in 2 years. While wooden nickels seemed to be the "go to" free handout after it was too costly to create a die for "rolled cents" I wonder if modern technology like laser engraving shown above will replace the wooden nickel? I'm, sure he would be happy to add one of your wooden Ikes to his collection if you want to pass one on and I'll even take pic for the thread presenting it to him

I do work construction, and I do work with some fine wood materials. I bethca some different harder wood types, and then if you put a stain over them. You can have awesome "wood coin " inserts for a table.
OHHHHHH I want some now. I want to build fancy coin furniture...anyway want some>

I have several wooden nickels, also plastic ones, aluminum, brass trade tokens (good for a beer or trade etc.) I think a wooden dollar is a good idea. Good job

Quote: I'm, sure he would be happy to add one of your wooden Ikes to his collection if you want to pass one on and I'll even take pic for the thread presenting it to him Sure thing. I'm getting him to use an entire sheet for wooden coins, which will net approximately 18 in total. So I should get 9 Ikes and 9 Morgans out of it. He is also making a giant 6-inch Morgan for me too. They're just really neat. Just send me a PM with the details, jack. Quote: I felt a tremor in the force and came here post-haste. Quote: If someone wanted one of these made what would it cost? Just $3.00. Red alder wood is apparently the best wood for engraving, and it is expensive compared with other wood types. It is in high demand. At some point I'm going to go over there and see this thing in action for myself.
