I am thinking that my Gratian is this coin. Mine is exactly 13mm like it should be, and I think I can see everything on mine that this one has. http://wildwinds.com/coins/sear/s4146.html

I have been letting it soak for 7hours and it looks like this now.

I have not scraped on it yet. I was wondering if you can over soak a coin. Thanks for looking and helping. Hope I IDed it right. I am trying to learn. I got Sear Roman Coins and their Values 4th edition today in the mail, so I am sure that will help. Is this a pretty common coin?

Sorry about the lacking pictures. I am not used to photographing such small coins.

I think you are right, or very close. I think I see SMKA on the reverse, but hard to tell.

Actually Cyzicus is Erdek, Turkey. Sisak is Sicia ;-)

This particular coin is ERIC II 608, RIC IX 22(a).1 dating to 378-383 AD and somewhat scarce at only 15 listed in Coinvac. By the way that's an A, not a delta, with only officina A and B noted for this issue.

Ras, thanks for that info. Seems like a pretty decent coin then. What would a coin like this be worth, just out of curiosity? I don't plan on selling these, but curious on if I earned my moneys worth with my fines.

This may sound dumb, but what is ERIC, I am pretty sure it is a book. I know about RIC(Roman Imperial Coinage) being a 10 volume set of books, and some are updated. Is ERIC the updated ones?

That little Gratian isn't worth much. Maybe $15 on ebay?

ERIC III is my fulltime job but I don't expect to see it go to print before 2020. It's just too much work. I have been publishing some of the draft chapters as standalone ebooks on http://www.dirtyoldbooks.com/CC/index.html (the S. Alexander one is free to download).

To follow progress bookmark http://dirtyoldbooks.com/eric3/

I'm about halfway through the section on Caracalla at the moment so if anyone has any questions let me know!

Ras
