Cut Cancels On Confederate Currency

I've been doing allot of shopping for nice Confederate notes that I do not have. I am seeing many of the early issues with various types of cut cancels and was wondering if anyone knew the reasons for these and how much they'll effect the value of the notes. Prices are discounted on what I have seen but not by very much. Are there any experts here that can answer these questions?
