I have this idea that could earn CFF some extra $$$. Here it is: CFF has a grading section, and you can post your coins for grading there. But, what if you were to send your coin to a moderator/specified person with some money so they could: 1. Take quality photographs of your coins (see image 1) 2. Post them on the grading section 3. Put the average grade on a special grade insert thing (see image 2) into a Coin World slab with the coin(see image 3) 4. Send back to customer. I did a bad job explaining that, but It would be like if CFF was a TPG. Image 1 Image 2 Image 3 Thanks for looking!

I suppose you'd have to limit the graders to a specially selected group. As it is, anyone can post their opinions on the grade and authenticity.
One interesting idea would be to include the percentage who thought the coin was real vs. fake on the label (80% genuine/20% fake, for example).

I'm all for the idea of an authentication and maybe appraisal service that can be taken seriously. The negative that I see in this idea, though, is that it would either A) consist of mostly the same users grading over and over, inflating their egoes and removing their humility, or B) a free-for-all where anyone can give their opinion on grade via photographs only - not very wise.
However, I like the idea. If it could be fine-tuned it could be useful.

That would be interesting. Don't trust me with your coins though. LOL.

I would think it would also be important to not show the previous grader's responses until after a specified grading period has elapsed; if people can see previous opinions it would affect theirs as well. The current TPG market seems to have enough inertia that it might be tough to get into without significant advertising as well, so I suppose this would mainly be a service used solely by CCF members. Doing this would also require much more time, effort, and insurance on the part of the moderator responsible for imaging and encapsulation, so I would expect remuneration as a portion of the submission fee would be necessary for such duties.

ACCGS looks like a good company. I like the idea they have.
