little back story.... at the recent show I got 2 cool errors from a fellow member, any way, I really like the CCCS slabs they are in and I like them over ICCS plastic BUT I am very unfamiliar with CCCS and I don't know how they grade. now here's my thoughts...I like ICCS but since I collect silver dollars I hate ICCS flips since their inner pouches are bound to break. what makes it worse is I only read today(never gave it much thought before) that the outer pouch is soft plastic containing PVC soooooo if the inner pouch is cracked which has happened to a couple so far I have to resend them. my idea is since most of my dollars worth certification are bought in ICCS plastic why not send them to CCCS for cross certification in a hard slab with the ICCS cert number on the slab? this just seems better cause I get the ICCS opinion, the CCCS opinion and a coin that is way more protected. please comment on my idea, CCCS's grading compared to ICCS and ANYTHING else you can comment on PLEASE Feel free to call me Will.

Going from CCS to ICCS is easy. Just send the coin as is to ICCS and ask for a cross-grade without removing from the CCCS holder. They will give you an ICCS tab (their regular yellow tab) with their (ICCS) grade and a reference to the CCCS holder. The other way makes it difficult and I don't think that CCCS wil reference the ICCS tab record once they re-holder the coin.

Frankly, for upper end registry set material, my collection, including errors coins, rests within PCGS holders.
That said, I will refrain from my personal opinion on CCCS versus ICCS. For silver dollars, neither companies soft flips are adequate for protecting large and heavy coins like silver dollars. The hard slabs from CCCS are attractive, but PCGS is cheaper for hard slabs, unless you do a bulk submission with CCCS...
Error coins are cheaper with CCCS for sure. ICCS does not certify errors.

I'd suggest calling Louis at CCCS and ask if he'll note the cross-grade cert from ICCS (I seem to recall asking him that before, and I believe he said he would do that as part of a cross-grading service). I too prefer the hard slabs over soft pouches, especially for silver dollars. Also, as SPP mentioned, CCCS will certify errors. I personally don't like the idea of sending Canadian coins to US firms for grading, and I find ICCS & CCCS' pricing to be comparable to one another. But give Louis a call, he's generally accessible and will answer any questions you have.
