Check the other forum for the Perth's Mint answer to RCM's July release: Clock, surrounded by the silver, pretending being a coin. Nice souvenir for clock collectors and Alice in Wonderland lovers. This was one of my favorite books as a kid, but neither the clock nor the 1oz silver coin don't worth to spoil a good memories - the characters on the coin don't close to Lewis Carroll drawings, and not to the Disney design.

Quote:The level of detalization is amazing on the big coin. Too bad, have no budget for this one. IMO - the best RCM's in 2015. The coin is amazing and well worth the price. You could get it cheaper at Gatewest Coins with its 5% VIP discount. Budget wise, I don't see it as a problem as you can just shift your spending priority from one coin to another. $500 is the equivalent of 3 or 4 one oz coins.

This year, was my decision almost totally to cut on the coins purchases. Like was discussed in some of the threads - it just going nowhere, the continuous purchases. So only the "best of the best" (in my eyes). So this coin is really the best, but it costs as 5 coins The worst my thought about it - what basically I will acquire by purchasing nice coin? Just the fact that I have it.... Still it nice and has our Coat of Arms.

I know what you mean Silveroid. Like any collector, we acquire the piece and like a crow, hide it away in a box or display it and only really appreciate it when it is shown to guests. Why then the need to possess. Is it rare, unique, cool, neat? Nice but not necessary.
Sometimes a coin with a theme, it speaks to us. "I have to have it." Or if it is to complete the collection of a set, then it is justified. We covet the coins.
It would be nice to be wealthy enough to afford all that we desire. That would make decisions easier, but would diminish the hunt, the pursuit, the thrill of finding the coin you have been seeking for a great or the right price.
When a new catalogue comes from the mint, I flip the pages like a kid with the Christmas Wish Book from Sears. Now - it gives me ideas on what to look for in the future at a discount. Sometimes - rarely, I bite right away and order that coin I have to have. But, like you, I have rationalized my purchases.
So it would be nice to have the 50 Cent Large Coin with Coat of Arms in Gold but, is it needed, nah. Same goes for the 1 kilo Gold Loonie Tunes at $69,000. Nice but not necessary.

absolutely agree, SilverDon so back to the July: interesting fact, that the Big Coins series, being offered by single coins (and they also nicely packaged) by the dealers, but not by the Mint.

Looks like Perth Mint "returned the fight" to us. No need to go to the Perth Mint website, all the best have been brought by "The Coin Shoppe". **Alice in Wonderland - 2 coins **The Star Trek - 2 single coins and the set.well, the prices similar to RCM's, but the themes and the mintage. Nor the same animals, neither overpriced 5oz's, but really fresh themes for affordable price (are you "Baby Raccoon" or Hero from Deep Space Nine? The answer is clear ) Added:about Alice coin : same as time running out, the coins stock depleted fast, smart people buying. Btw, people forgot, that this is isn't first watch/coin - the first issued in 2011, for.....yes, again "Alice in Wonderland" designers have no imagination for more then more fancy remake. offered in July, but starts in November: new "Mythical Realms of Haida" series by RCM.What to tell here? RCM doesn't learn and wants more money. Good theme, not bad designs, extremely limited mintage (50 and 1500), but the prices (!): $12.000 for each gold coin $550 for each silver (5oz) coin To put gold aside (with the 50 mintage they will be sold out), but why not to strike Silver 1oz series, priced $100 per coin with 1.500 mintage...

Silveroid Though the design is attractive - but 500$+ is way too much. I get the US ATB 5oz for 149US$ so 3 coins the same price!! Obviously, mintage has its price but not triple.... for me a no go

The 50 cent big coin appears to be well done and likely to be quite desirable for those who covet coat of arms coins - the detail is blown up nicely - For myself I really liked the big circulation coins - The 10 cent coin was superb - nice high relief and fantastic shades of gold plating plus nice to see the small bluenose dime big and bold - never seen before- Big coin series was well done I would likely rank as follows as best of bunch 1st - 10 cents 2nd - 5 cents - yes lots of beavers of late but again size matters here 3rd - 25 cents - nicely pulled off 4th - 50 cents - great detail 5th - loonie- Followed by twonie

Not RCM, but very close RM : "Refreshed" George and Dragon silver coin. Previous one, from 2013, is the "hit". Was total miss not to order it. With its 10.000 mintage, very hard to find on the secondary market - serious collectors bought them all (luckily, inexpensive 1/2oz version available). And now, new coin issued, but with the 7.500 mintage (of limited edition presentation). http://www.royalmint.com/shop/Princ...r_Proof_Coin

You can buy it from RCM without subscription too. And for the same price. Am I missing something?
