Hi everyone, I'm new to coins.

Anyway, when I found this site I found an ad for this https://firstcoincompany.com/S/usa-...ed-1-oz-2014 burning eagle coin.

I like the coin but why isn't the silver side shiny, just dull grey?

Also is it a good coin? Is it even legal tender? Or one of those things that are minted by nobodies?

Sorry if I sound really stupid I don't actually know what I'm talking about.

All your input will be appreciated a lot. The more the better.

Appreciate it.

It's colourized black on the "silver" side. It's an American Silver Eagle, minted by the US mint, and might be coloured by "nobodies", but it's legal tender for $1.

Ok, so its still a good coin if you like it? And it is still silver right? As it says 1 troy ounce.

Also when I said "nobodies" I actually wanted some insight on coins that are not minted by the government mints in that country. As I said I have no idea what I'm talking about so I want some information on that without looking it up and researching it.

Not that I'm that type of person, I just would love some information now before I find the time to study.

Anyway appreciate your response and anymore that I get.

Thanks.

Well, considering it's silver I like it, but personally I'd prefer "unaltered" coins, such as

As for "nobodies", they have no legal right to issue legal tender coins (or currency), that is the government's job unless the goverment chooses them. Instead, they can issue unofficial currecy such as the "Zombucks" series, that can be considered novelty items or collecibles.

It is an american silver eagle. It is minted by the US government. It is 1 dollar and 1 ounce of silver. This company colorized the coin.

Not to be mean, but isn't it actually a TROY OUNCE, which is about 2 grams heavier?

The first in the series was the "burning" Canadian Maple Leaf last year. They only made (altered) 500 of them and they currently sell for around $250 or so last time I looked on ebay. They may be even higher now as I bought mine way back when and have no interest in selling it. It turned out to be quite sought after and the original issue price was $99.00. This eagle will be minted in a quantity of 1000 and they raised the per order price to $149.00 probably due to the popularity of the Maple Leaf. First Coin Company is an advertiser of this forum and I have bought a couple of coins from them...including pre ordering this burning eagle. I know I am in the minority as most don't collect these type of things but the first rule of any collection is collect what you like and I liked it. I will post a picture of the Maple for you...but it is much prettier in person. I didn't want to take it out of the air tite so it's a pretty bad pic.

Is it because most collectors consider this post mint damage?

No not at all.....Some collectors look for 1 oz bullion as close to spot as possible, some like this, some like that but I wouldn't think any would consider this a "damaged" coin in any way.
