Just seeing if any Olympus camera users out there. We can pool our information specific to our make, how cool would that be! I see lots of help for Canon and Nikon, but not too much for Olympus.

I have a Pen E-LP1. It is a great compact D-SLR that shoots pictures and HD videos.
The 2 lens I have are: the Olympus M.Zuiko 14-42mm [1:3.5-5.6 L] that came with the camera (low end) and an equally low end Olympus M.Zuiko 40-150mm [1:4-5.6] telephoto.

The Olympus M.Zuiko 14-42mm [1:3.5-5.6 L] lens does not accept the Olympus Macro Converter, but the 14-42mm 1:3.5-5.6 EZ does. I think I'm going to have to invest in said equipment to take the quality pictures I know the camera can take. It's all about having the proper tools, isn't it?

These pictures show the closest I am able to clearly shoot coins. I would like to get a bit closer with the equipment list above.

With camera's flash:

I found an old quartz light I used in the Super-8 days:

I'm going to have to save my pennies and dimes to pay for everything. I'll post updates soon.

Thanks and let's hear from all the Olympus users out there

I was in one of their commercials once. Never used one. The whole commercial was filmed with the camera they were advertising.

I saw the commercial and it convinced me to buy one.

I mostly use old Olympus OM macro lenses for coin photography mounted on an Olympus bellows. The bellows is good, and the lenses are adequate.

The camera is a Canon T2i, however.

I have an Olympus point and shoot. Very good camera for what I paid for it. Still use it on occasion for family events and such. Now-a-days I use a Sony A55 DSLR and love it!

Yeah, I have an old Olympus C5500 p & s I got for $35. It can't do much, but it does have a Super Macro button which allows focusing very close to the coin.

I picked up a new lens, an Olympus M.Zuiko 14-42mm [1:3.5-5.6 EZ] . This one will accept a macro-converter.

Once it arrives I'll post some comparison pictures.

Here's my new setup:
1) I had to get a new lens to accommodate a Macro Converter, Olympus M.Zuiko 14-42mm [1:3.5-5.6 EZ]

2) the Olympus Macro converter.

3) the Olympus Macro light.

Combined with a tripod and an additional source of lighting. I am able to take some good coin pictures. Finally.

I'll post some pictures soon.

Here's my 1993 P US Mint Medal. I shot this last night with my new setup.

Compared to my original setup. This was the closest macro shot I was able to take.

Here is a '64 D Quarter I shot on Sunday.

Using a black cloth background, the quarter is resting on a 1" silicon plug.

I use a sony mirrorless, but one of my most used lenses, as slow as it is, is the oly 135mm bellows lens. My example is one of the later ones so it has much more modern coatings.....sometimes I wish it were a tad faster even so its a brilliant lens

I re-shot the coin in the original post with my new setup.

Vast difference between them.

Any-Olympus-Camera-Users?

I think I am OK with my lens setup for macro photography.

I do need to invest in different lighting and maybe a copy stand.

Nice image. The multi-colored lights (different color temperatures?) make for an interesting effect -- white crocodile and yellowish legend and rims.

Thank you pepactonius.

As I mentioned earlier, my next step is to get better lighting. My quarter pictures were taken using a LED flash light, which I forgot to use with my latest crocodile coin.
