What kind of friends does he have that are interested in coins? All of my friends question my sanity when I pay more than face for a coin. They give me some (but only some) slack if the coin is older than 1900 or if it is made of silver or gold. They think it has the "cool" factor, but they still think spending large amounts of money on disks of metal (more than its intrinsic value) is insane.
