Quote: $13,250......what am I missing? The fact that almost every bid is coming from one of four <5 feedback users with 100% bid activity on that seller

I guess I'm confused what happened here? Fake accounts used to drive the price up? Why drive it so high though?

There is so much wrong with that one. IF the coin is genuine I would say worth way more than the $300 quoted above. Looks like a generic Coin World slab but the seller was to cheap to spend 35¢ for the official insert / holder so they made their own. And then they Scotch taped a "fancy" label to the outside of the holder. I am not an expert on the series but the coin if genuine seems to be VF and the B and E in Liberty appear to be a doubled die or repunched.

Without knowing anything about the coin, there are two major problems: Horrible holder, and shill bidders. Two wrongs don't make a right, they make a huge wrong.

The coin has Fine details, damage on the obverse and both the obverse and reverse rims have been heavily rim filed. If the bidders are shills, they make no sense as there is no way anyone would ever pay $13,250 for this coin. All his other listings seem to be at reasonable prices.

Two out of three of the recent bidders have 100% of their bid activity with this seller. They are the shills imo. The fish they almost have hooked is the bidder d***c. All speculation of course, it just looks that way to me.

Wait for the canceled bids start chopping at the price. I assume the seller (shill) is smart enough to know he doesn't want to be the high bidder.

Quote: If the bidders are shills, they make no sense as there is no way anyone would ever pay $13,250 for this coin. Actually being shills makes perfect sense. Shilling is how and why it was bid to the high level. Quote: Wait for the canceled bids start chopping at the price. I assume the seller (shill) is smart enough to know he doesn't want to be the high bidder. That's not what happens since winning shill bids occur regularly. Of course that is not the plan and leads to re-listed "sold" items.

Somebody got wind of it, because it never reached a conclusion.
