I have read numerous posts about people finding Doubled Dies, RPM's, BU coins and other coins in rolls of coins they bought or picked up somewhere. My question is, where should I be looking for these kind of rolls? ebay, Coin shops, local auctions, some other avenue? How would I know that a roll of coins is worth buying (hasn't been searched already)? I've done a lot of CRH from the bank, but I'm not finding Unc. copper cents (pre 1982). Should I just bite the bullet and buy them and gamble on finding something in a roll when I'm paying $5+ on a roll of cents? Thanks for your input!!

What kind of rolls of cents from ebay? The "unsearched" witch are heavily searched ones? THe real place the find them is in banks. You need to buy lots of rolls and KNOW WHAT TO LOOK FOR. doubled dies and RPMs don't always jump out at 1st. The BU cents are not going to make CRH profitable or exciting. Know what to look for and look for it in large volumes.

I do look through a lot of coins from the bank, hundreds of dollars a week. I just keep reading about people having "rolls of BU coins they just bought" and finding something noteworthy. I know that the "un-searched" rolls from ebay are a scam, I just wonder if the rolls from coin shops are going to be scams too. I've found a few RPMs in different years, some DDO's, Cuds, BIE's, Die cracks, Lam's, WAM's in all 3 years, and I'm sure I'm forgetting some others. I'm pretty sure I've got a good idea of what to look for. I just wondered if I were to get rolls from other places, where should I look?

Ok so you are talking about original bank wrapped rolls. They are not scams, most of the time, but not all of them have varieties. Every roll may only have a few die pairs, so when you get a roll, if it has a variety, then there are likely to be way more than just that one in the roll.

Even some OBW rolls are scams. Best to just get them at the bank for face value or at estate auctions.

I usually just watch my pocket change. But, I'm tempted to search through some bank rolls. I assume the key is the more coins you search, the better the odds of finding something decent.

It would be very rare to find rolls of coins at a pawn shop. you can buy OBW's from coin shops but you'll be paying a premium for them. best bet is a bank.

I would think your best bet to find "real" unsearched rolls of coins are from estates sales. But even then there is a small chance they were searched also. John1

Bank boxes, bags, & customer wrapped rolls is where all the goodies are hidden.
