Im thinking not so much a lamination that peeled but a strike through a ... not sure what. When most lams come off a part of the design will seem to trail into the laminated pocket. This is not evedent here. Also the depth seems to follow the top edge of the reeding, odd in and of itself.

I dunno stone, looks like you can see the denticle pattern slightly under the area. I'm thinking yes to a lam but it popped off soon after minting causing circulation to wear the area down and obliterate most 9f the under denticle patern and smoothing the area over. Just a guess though, this is a stange one for sure
