These are 2 of several Half Dimes we have. By far these are the best grade and nicest. 1859 Half Dime appears to be uncirculated. The 1862 also appears to be uncirculated. They have been in our collection at least 25 years.

If you could (very carefully) remove them from the 2x2 and photograph it would be easier, also larger pictures would be very helpful, but even from these I can see buckets full of luster so that's a good initial sign :P

I wonder if the "63" and "64" written on the 2x2s refers to MS63 and MS64 grades, perhaps written by the seller?

They are 2100width pixels, but that is too large for this site. I downsized these ,trying to stay within the size stated. How many pixels would be accepted? I can upload more. I am a little dubious about taking them out of the 2 x2 because I am a little shaky and I am afraid I would damage them.

Yes. It meansMS 63 and MS 64 and was on the 2 x2 when we purchased them.

1859 - Polished and then plated based on 2nd picture. If that's just due to the camera, then it's a MS63 with killer eye appeal and mirror, and worth about 1,200x face value.
The obverse looks all wrong on the 1859 2nd picture. The base under Liberty is obliterated, along with the entirety of the drapery, and the hand where it grips the staff should hook over the staff but on this coin the staff appears to be above the hand. The frills on the bottom of the dress are gone, and on the reverse, the stem of the right wreath bough is MIA. Possible ex-jewelry piece if this is how the coin looks in-hand.
The first picture looks much more accurate, but it's too small. If we can get a better shot out of the 2x2 using macro mode, that would be tremendously helpful, because the issues with the 2nd pic may be due to your camera and not your coin :) I like the first pic details a LOT better.
Take pictures w/macro on, flash off, around 1000px then crop down using the image optimizer here.

The actual coin looks much better than the 2nd ;picture. I can see the staff and the hand is over the staff on the coin. Also the base is there as well. Tomorrow I will get my husband to remove it from the 2x2 and try that. I don't have a macro lens. I can set kit on full auto but the flash comes on... Anyway I will try tomorrow. It's late where I live and I think our predicted storms are rolling in from the sound of thunder.
Thanks for your help.

I think if it looks as good as the first picture you've got a real winner or two there :)
Try your best!

Much better pics! I'll agree that both are MS coins. Beautiful.
