I cannot help with the local Jordanian dealers but can recommend, instead, the following URLs to use as a guideline when purchasing their foreign coins without getting taken to the cleaners:

date conversion: ie 1955 in English equates to 1374 in Arabic -

http://www.spa.gov.sa/english/datec...&m_year=1955

pricing -

http://www.ngccoin.com/price-guide/...4-duid-89213

The convenient feature of this NGC tool is that it automatically adjusts the prices of precious metal-type coins depending upon the prevailing NYSE bullion PM prices.

Jordanian coin color picture identification -

http://en.numista.com/catalogue/jordanie-1.html

By the way, unless you are going after commemorative gold or silver proof-type coins, it appears that the majority of twentieth century circulating coins are non-PM(precious metals) and can fit on about four pages in the Krauss catalog.

getting taken to the cleaners

By the way I just noticed you are from Greece and probably not aware of the meaning of the phrase, 'getting taken to the cleaners'.

This phrase is affectionately referred to when another person or business steals from another person or business by usually selling them something that is way undervalued based upon the higher price that the buyer paid for it...

best of luck

I have been to several Middle east countries. Be very aware of any coins you purchase.

I would recommend you bring a magnet at the very least because most PM coins I saw were counterfeit. Scales and calipers would be even better but I think that might be a little much just for casual tourism.

As usual, education is your friend and any books/apps you can take with you will be worth it when coin hunting.
