I picked this up as part of a mint set about 6 months ago for $25. I know my pictures are crappy but I believe this to be a FBL coin as the both lines on the bell go straight across without a break in the line. Unfortunately I think the seller had the coin out touching it and/or stored it improperly. See the black toning on the top of the observe? I also see a thumb print on the back of the coin. Sorry my pictures are crappy, they really don't do the bell lines justice. I know this isn't a rare coin but did do the imperfections completely kill the value of this coin?

Sorry, but the pics make it impossible to tell much of anything. But assuming it's at least a 63 (just guessing), then no, I wouldn't think the handling has caused any loss of value in that price range. It could always be dipped.

I agree that it all depends on the actual grade of the coin. Unless this gets up into a high grade, meaning MS 65 or better, that small bit of tone shouldn't be distracting. I'm sure you don't need my advice, but let this coin be a reminder to you every time you buy a coin. If you have doubts about a coin while or before you buy it - that doubt or unhappiness with the coin will only INCREASE after you own it.
