It looks like this is going about the best from a batch of ten uncleaned Roman coins.

Very corroded, unfortunately.

I believe it is RIC VIII, Siscia. Beyond that, I'm stumped.
It's about the size of a dime.

Well that is indeed Constantius II !
A frequently seen "soldier spearing fallen horseman" reverse and as you noted a rather corroded one at that !
I bought two lots of uncleaned several years ago and found the experience rather disappointing also.
I suppose it is best looked at as an exercise in collecting that everyone needs to do once !
I have recommended to others that buying a few semi cleaned where you have a reasonable chance of being satisfied with your 'creation' is still the best option.
Don't get too discouraged ! There will be triumphs too !
As long as you are patient.

Thank you Fvrivs Rvfvs! I'm not too disappointed. I realized that this endeavour was a gamble, and must say that it has been somewhat exciting. And in the process, I've begun to learn a wee bit about ancient Roman coins and the history around them. Would I buy another uncleaned lot? ... I might. But I'll also be looking at nicer coins at shops and shows, with a little better understanding of what I'm looking at.
:)

Beware, it's easy to get hooked on these and start craving more!
Rest in Peace

Did you use electrolysis to clean this.

Actually I have been losing my mind lately over much of the very reasonably priced "high grade junk" I am seeing being offered.
It is a buyers market right now.
If you message me Jerry B I might point you toward some proverbial 'good deals' that I am seeing.
Of course today I am roasting on the beach in West Dennis.
It may take a day or so for my reply !

No. Was tempted, but have read that it is quite harsh.

I can certainly envisage that!!
My wife keeps me in line.

Don't get over-roasted. We just got home from a nice day at Port Dover, ON. Had a burger, fries & soda. I like to go there with my metal detector, but it was much to busy on the beach for that, today.
I'll send you a pm, Fvrivs. No rush to reply.
