got it at an ebay live auction. feel like I was taken for a ride, they appraised it at between $90 and $120. I won it for $42 out the door with selling commission and shipping. what is it truly worth?

Lets call it Very Good with a 2016 Red Book Retail value of $30. If it fills a hole in your Dansco, do so and be happy.

It's a Seated Liberty Quarter

IMHO yeah you paid a bit too much. G06, and although I don't know much about these maybe $20 or so. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

It's a seated liberty, not standing liberty. If it grades at VF, you did ok. But, looks like VG to F to me, so maybe you overpaid a little. Those coins are getting hard to find nowadays.

There are over 300 of this date and mint mark on ebay right now. They are one of the most common dates in the entire Seated Liberty quarter series.

Your coin grades good, although it can boast few problems, other than a dip or two, most likely.

Learning to buy coins takes time and effort. I'm sure there is no one here who wouldn't admit to a few mistakes.

Quite often mistakes are what teaches me the most.

ebay is a wonderful place to learn the good and the bad, but in the end the only one who should make the decision on what you spend your money on -is you.
Rest in Peace

The Seated quarter that you won is in good condition. $42 was out of the ball park.
sorry for the bad news. We learn by our mistakes.

Higher grade coins have sold on ebay for around $15. I think that's around what it is worth regardless. You overpaid considerably, but the amount you paid wasn't much so it'd not too bad I guess

It's worth $20 tops and I'd say closer to $10 than $20. Return it if you can or use it as a learning experience. You will learn more from your mistakes than your successes if you're like me.

Everyone is making you feel bad about now. However, look at the brighter side. You now know why so many keep away from ebay. Lesson well learned.
