I have this 1940 Nickel that has this weird design on the back of the building.
Is this the normal backing of a 1940 nickel?

It's post mint damage from a dispensing machine probably.

Either is possible. It's a nickel that is worth 5 cents.

That did not happen at the US Mint ... damage somehow during its circulated life.

No numismatic premium.

It looks like a monkey with a tie on, but it was damaged purely at random. PSD - Post Strike Damage.
