I have absolutely NO idea what this is But I doubt that it is a coin. Probably a temple token or a tourist piece , it looks Indian not Greek to me

First thing I think of is "kouros figure"...although it may depict a female, the profile is reminiscent - at least to me - of a kouros (male) profile. Whether ancient, or perhaps antique (19th century?), I have no idea (although I suspect the latter). It almost seems like an antecedent of something like this: https://www.etsy.com/listing/150889...e?ref=marketPretty cool whatever it is!

Man, I like that piece. I'm not sure what it might be, although the Indian guess would be something to follow up on. I almost thought it looked a tad bit Parthian, but if Bob L didn't think so, it isn't.
Still, whatever it is, I like and I'd buy it just because it's neat. Not often I'd buy something I'm not sure about, but for some odd reason this piece "speaks" to me.
...wish I understood the language...

Not only looks like a kouros it without doubt is a 'kouros'. Fascinating blend of archaic Greek style blended with classic Egyptian. The "coin" is a high quality tourist trinket. Perhaps sold at a museum.

Do you have any information as to where this piece came from? Is it from a dig in the area? What is the size and weight? I don't believe I don't believe it's ancient, maybe later medieval.

it's pretty darn cool. no idea really, I bet BL is barking up the right tree. I would also guess in was realtivly modern, like 100-200 yo...but I can't articulate why I think that. just general style?

I think Albert is right...it is referencing a Kore (female) rather than Kouros (male). A pic here of a Kore from my Acropolis Museum book:

At that size and weight it's most likely a paper weight from the 19th century. I'm going to move this over to the Tokens and Medal section. You should get more responses there.
