Thank you, Bob L, echizento, and Chrsmat71 for your kind words. Over the years, I have collected virtually every major ancient coinage theme one can think of. My recent posts are just an example of what interests me. I love taking time to properly photograph my coins and catalog them to the most current scholarship. This process brings me closer the coins numismatiscally, aesthetically, and historically.

I'll look for other interesting material to post soon.

Shapur I is an important ruler if you collect mid-third century Roman coins because he is the ruler who defeated and captured Valerian. numisart, that is a very nice example. Congratulations!

A very interesting point made by Augustus1. This monumental relief from Bishapur, Iran depicts Shapur I triumphant over three Roman emperors:
1) Gordian III, dead on the ground under Shapur's horse; during or soon after the Battle of Misichi near Fallujah, Iraq.
2) Philip I, the Arab, subjugated in front of Shapur. Philip I owed his new-found position to the death of Gordian III (thanks to the former's defeat by the Persians) and made a peace treaty with Shapur I.
3) Capture of Valerian after the Battle of Edessa, shown as Shapur I holding Valerian by hand.
