Bought these off an elderly gentleman today for $1,200 total. He has a bunch of morgan and Peace dollars too which he misplaced those are my next purchase. Here are the coins I want to see grades and any issues because I am considering sending a few into PCGS. 1932 S quarter (My guess VG8) 1932 D quarter my guess EF40 1928 Peace dollar (my guess AU/Uncirculated weird coloring) 1880 $5 gold my guess Uncirculated 1912 $2.5 gold my guess AU details (scratch obv. near cheek) 1893 Morgan my guess XF45

Would acetone clear up the 1928 Peace or should I leave it be....I paid $260 I believe for it....The coin looks better in hand details wise than I could muster for the photos....Peace dollars are hard to fully capture its details compared to Morgans.

Doubt that acetone would help on the '28 - too deeply tarnished (don't necessarily agree with ED). You might want to send it to NGC for oonservation and grading.

Coinfrog what do you think grade wise of the other coins including the 28 peace I am trying to get a consensus as well as a local 35 years + dealers opinion to submit or not submit to pcgs/ngc.

Consider conservation through PCGS or NCS for the '28 Peace. I agree that acetone is not likely to help much at this point. For $1200 purchase price it seems clear the seller knew the full value of these coins.

1932-S G4, 1932-D VF20. Morgan VF30
Pass on the rest, I have no experience with gold, and the Peace is ungradeable as-is.

I'm gonna get expert advice from my guy next week with 35 years experience too why waste money on sending coins to be graded if they aren't worth it....I am definitely leaning on sending in the 1880 $5 gold, 32 d quarter, and 1893 Morgan, so far...32 s isn't worth it, 1912 $2.5 gold is scratched and the 1928 peace is the big question to get ngc to conserve it and grade it

Don't count the 1932-S out yet, it looks fairly problem free, and in good TPG if it makes AG3 or G4 it will probably bring $70-$100 all day long.
