Is this artificial toning?

The toning is subtle & evenly distributed, so it doesn't strike me as artificial. However the obverse doesn't display the same characteristics...which leads me to believe this was possibly stored in an coin folder (obverse up).

I don't think so. It looks to me to be similar to coins I've seen that have been stored in plastic flips and exposed to heat. Not sure if it's a type of PVC residue or not, but I think it's pretty.

Does not scream "fake" to me. It actually looks nice.
