I never really took these coins out to look at the back, which you can see a little toning on the front, but when I did..well, you see.

I'm not really sure how to feel about it...
They were just quick pictures and they don't really do much justice.

should I turn them and wait to see of the obverse starts to tone too or should I try to prevent anymore toning?

I would stop now. The shield sides of the two lower denominations are bordering environmental damage. IMHO
