Just picked this up the other day for under $10. Love the story behind it. Allegedly, there were only 3,000 of these struck. Now I need the bronze & silver ones! The pictures do not do it justice, it is in excellent shape & bright (I photographed it in the flip).

Interesting collection. How many different metals were these struck in? Wasn't Bashlow responsible for re-strikes of the Confederate cent?

There are three metal types for this token: Goldine, Bronze, and Silver. The one I have is the goldine one, which does not contain any actual gold. Yes, Bashlow was the person who did the Confederate re-strikes.
