VITELLIUS AR silver denarius. Struck at Tarraco, Spain, 69 AD (Hispania Tarraconensis). A VITELLIVS IMP GERMANICVS, laureate head of Vitellius to left, with globe at the point of the neck. Reverse - CONSENSVS EXERCITVVM, Mars, nude but for helmet and cloak over his shoulder, advancing to left, holding spear in his right hand and eagle on vexillum in his left. RIC 6, they say it is very rare. 18mm, 3.5g. probably as a pendant or something similar If it not was a pendant of jewl, I could not affort this one Edited by imperator 07/26/2015 2:53 pm

I don't want to sound too harsh, but I'm not liking the way this coin looks. You can see where it was mounted probably as a piece of jewelry. The obverse bust details don't look right the facial features seem different than the examples I've seen. The lettering looks mushy and not well defined, that could however be cause by harsh cleaning. I have some doubts that this is a genuine example. I could be wrong though, I often am.

I'm always careful when it comes to rare coins, forges tend to do things to there coins to make it harder to discover that they are fake. This coin may very well be fine, but not one I would take a chance with.

Here is another one as you requested - not necessarily a better one because this one spent 2000 years in the ground, and you can see what that did to the coin. Still, a reasonable condition and a very rare type. What I do not remember if this coin was minted at Tarraco or Lugdunum.

Germanicvs you coin is a right facing bust and the OP coin is left facing bust. Was this coin struck both ways, and do you feel that imperator's coin is genuine?

Echizento, the Concensvs Exercitvum denarius was struck with bust facing right and left, with the former being seemingly more common. Regarding Imperator's coin, I am leaning towards genuine judging purely from 'fabric' and overall style. The style of the bust is not unusual. Unfortunately, the coin certainly does seem to have been worn in an ornament as evidenced by the regular indents around the edge.
