I got this coin back from ANACS, but I was expecting the grade to be higher like au-53. Also I do not know what damage they are referring to for this coin and I do not think this coin was recolored. Also full Liberty is visible and so is the lines on the feathers and the diamonds are lightly visible. What do you think?

This one looks AU details from what I can see in these photos. Razor sharp details.

, it looks more AU than EF. As for the recoloring, though, I think they got that right. The spotchy blotchy tone over bright is an indication of a poorly accomplished recolor.

I have found that ANACS tends to lower the grade on details coins. For instance this one might be AU50 but since it was supposedly re-colored they lowered it to EX 45 details. Anyone else have this same thought?

I would have thought AU Details as well. Can't answer your question, Fayette.

Unless the damage is the recoloring, I don't see any damage. A bit of a harsh grade imo.

ANACS, when they're "on", usually grades very strictly. Problem is, sometimes they're more "off" than "on" these days.

I'm not sure there would be any value in crack and resubmit with NGC, for instance, the coin is not so expensive as to warrant the cost for a 5 point grade increase, being a details coin.

I agree with paralyse. There is nothing to be gained by resubmitting for a possible numerical grade increase on a details coin and it is clearly details.

Thank you for your input I am not sure if I am going to try to submit to NGC. I got this coin from an estate sale in a bag with other coins for $10 so I am not overly dissapointed with this grade. Does having details increase the value of this coin?

Having details severely decreases the value of the coin in most cases

Details = problems. For this coin damage and recolored (fake coloring or toning)
