Always assume if you type in your credit card number there is a chance it will be mishandled. Even the biggest companies have flaws in their systems, ask Target. Using PayPal means you only have to trust PayPal and not every company that you purchase from. Of course if you have had bad blood and don't trust them the point is mute.

If you want to be safe, before sending money or using a credit card, get the sellers address. Then either drive or fly or something to that place and buy it cash. No lost in mail. No wrong coin sent. Etc.

I love Paypal, especially the Paypal Rewards feature, which can produce some decent money if you use Paypal regularly.
