never heard of this variety:

"1917 S Buffalo nickel PCGS VF 35 Two Feathers Rare Variety Coin

This coin has a sharp strike on both sides with nearly a full defined horn on the reverse. What makes this coin so valuable is that it is the rare two feather variety on the obverse. If you look behind the Indians' neck on the obverse you will see that he is missing a feather. A very tough variety coin to find in such decent condition"

Very cool--I was not even aware that this variety existed. Now I'll have to go back and check all of my buffaloes!

FS-401, a die polishing artifact same as the 3-Leg. The designer's initial should be missing too.
