Does anyone have experience with http://www.universityrarecoins.com/
or know any other sites/areas to get a education of various coin topics? Those courses on the site looked very detailed.

I've been wanting to learn more about coins for awhile now. This class sounds like it would be fun. It appears that you have to call to activate an account though.

I apologize if this is the incorrect forum.

That sounds like an interesting site. I'll have to take a look at that.

I know the ANA has an education program but I don't know how they compare. https://www.money.org/school-of-numismatics

You are on the best educational site out there. Welcome aboard.

Check out the left hand column as it is loaded with great information.

Ask questions here and you will learn.

What are you interested in collecting or learning about.

Most series of coins have clubs and associations built around them.

For instance if you like early American copper coins, check out the EAC (though my link isn't working for me at the moment?).

If you like Barber coins, check out the Barber Coin Collectors' Society.
http://www.barbercoins.org/

If you like Ike dollars, check out the Ike Group.

For $25 a month, you could try it out for about the price of a coin book. After a month, if you like it, go for more!

My suggestion is to buy the Red Book by Whitman. Sit down and look through that book. Then stick around here and ask, ask, ask. And as already noted, check out all the STUFF at the left.

The course seems to be all metadata - how the hobby works, very little about actual coins themselves. You can pay money over months to learn it or we could teach you for free. Your choice.

I have been collecting coins for over 30 years and I have learned more in the last few months since I found CCF than I ever did on my own! I totally agree about getting a Red Book, it is invaluable as a resource (I got the Deluxe edition from my awesome family as a Father's Day gift). The people on here are super knowledgeable and super friendly! The main thing is to utilize all of the resources available here (there are a lot). CCF is like a graduate course in coin collecting!

And just think of all the money you'll save by sticking around here. Then you could buy more coins with the savings.
