"A new commemorative coin from the Royal Canadian Mint that used artwork from Tsawwassen marine artist John Horton was unveiled in Halifax last week.

The silver collector coin depicts HMS Terror and HMS Erebus navigating the icy waters of the Arctic Ocean. Both of the ships, part of the 19th century Franklin Expedition, and their crews were lost in the Arctic waters"

I didn't know about the unveiling until Thursday in Halifax. Read about it in Canadian Coin News.

I understand from a reliable source that the silver plated coins previously produced for the Empress of India and Titanic which are part of this series is something the Mint has recently pulled the plug on.

In other words if you are looking for an inexpensive <$35.00 colourized version, of the Erebus, you can stop looking.

You might want to hurry and get your order in before the $20 coin is sold out.

Seems they're not making enough money on 50 cent versions.

If you remember, the 2012 silver-plated Titanic sold very well, I do not remember the issue price, but in the secondary market it hit CAD 100+ (together with first GITD)
This caused, fake "Canada Niue" Titanic coins to appear....
compares to silver plated, the 1/2oz Silver Titanic coin did also well (up to CAD 100), but still the silver plated was more desirable......looks like the interest for both decreased.

Silveroid - see here for the price:

*****Also designed by Yves Berube but listed for $34.95, the proof 50-cent silver-plated and colorized coin depicts a different view of the ship with the North Atlantic waters glistening in colors of blue. Inscriptions include CANADA, 50 CENTS, 2012, and RMS TITANIC. Mintages of the silver-plated coin are capped at a lower limit of 15,000.

Thank you, Pixu, for the issue price details.

My point was just to say, that Silver Plated Titanic was RCM's success.
