About the Design Canadian artist Loïc Beaumont-Tremblay has re-created the forested setting of the Observatoire du Mont-Megantic beneath a clear, star-filled sky. A globule of borosilicate glass shines with a stunning image of the universe. The round, crystal-clear qualities of the glass are similar to peering through a telescope lens, and its luminescence further enhances the viewer's experience of gazing into the galaxy.
Though I have mixed feelings about where the RCM is going with this in terms of numismatic value. In fact I have deep concerns about the future of NCLTs in general. We've had odd shapes, paint, crystals but it seems that there is just no limit to what the RCM is willing to put out now.
At almost 8x the cost of silver and such a high mintage there is just no way that this coin could ever hold its value on the secondary market. But I could be wrong.
